Calibanus

Calibanus hookeri is one of my favorite plants. This Chichuahuan Desert plant is one I like to call tough as nails.

It can take lots and lots of cold and all the heat that comes its way. The nice grass-like foliage offers a soft feeling to any desert landscape. The swollen caudex is very attractive with age and a mature plant lends itself to a beautiful desert ‘bonsai’.

The largest recorded caudex was the size of a volkswagen!!
